Hoppin' & Boppin' for Youngsters - CD

"Hoppin' & Boppin'" is dubbed part of the "Smart Moves Series" by educators. Children sing and dance to this captivating music with educational, interactive lyrics that keep them stretching, snapping their fingers, giggling, choo-chooing like trains, mimicking facial expressions, hopping like bunnies, and skipping to kid's favorite songs and lullabies. Some songs even have a bilingual twist. Before long, youngsters are singing, moving various parts of their body, and following simple directions - all while identifying colors that surround them, counting off from 1-20, and scaling their ABCs. It's so much fun; they don't even know they're learning. This CD in the series takes children Hoppin' Boppin' through another 30-minutes of action-style songs. NO COUCH POTATOES HERE! Recommended for children age toddler and up. Also available: "Movin' & Shakin' for Youngsters". "Animal Romp" is another interactive, educational CD in the series that teaches children about wildlife, animal characteristics and facts. Look for these titles on VHS or DVD. A quick-view educational guide is in the cover of each music CD. Lyrics and free educational activities are available at AbridgeClub.com.

Disney's Lullaby Album

Instrumental albums from Walt Disney's mega-empire are a rarity. But judging from the excellence of Disney's Lullaby Album--from the superb arrangements to the surprise song choices--you'll probably be hearing more of them. Producer and arranger Fred Mollin exhibits not only good taste and restraint in his approach, but his song choices sweetly complement one another. Treading the fine line between Muzak and genuinely soothing music, Mollin lands softly and sentimentally on such Disney movie song classics as "Baby Mine," "When You Wish upon a Star," and "Stay Awake/Feed the Birds," as well as on other chestnuts such as "Brahms Lullaby" and Kenny Loggins's "House at Pooh Corner." The real delights, though, are the Beatles' "I Will" (rendered beautifully on piano and strings), Louis Armstrong's timeless "What A Wonderful World," the classic "Beautiful Dreamer," the old doo-wop favorite "Good Night My Love (Pleasant Dreams)," and an inspired reprise of "Brahms Lullaby" joined with Gershwin's "Someone to Watch over Me." Complete with sleeping tips from psychology professor Jodi Mindell, Disney's Lullaby Album almost guarantees that you'll fall asleep before the baby does--for all the right reasons. --Martin Keller

Sesame Street: Old School, Vol. 1: 1969-1974

Just in time for the 40th Anniversary, comes Sesame Street Old School Vol. 1, a reissue project to release some of the earliest Sesame Street albums, featuring the original art, and the earliest cast (sorry kids no Elmo here). When Sesame Street first aired on television in 1969, it was a revolutionary new show aimed specifically at preschool children - an audience previously not targeted by television programming. From its earliest planning stages, Sesame Street was designed to be a show that would use music and singing as a part of the material being taught. So it was only natural to release the musical content on records, not only to reinforce the curriculum lessons for children when they weren't watching the show, but also because Sesame Street music is enjoyable just for its own sake. Many of the albums went on to chart on Billboard top album charts and get nominated and win Grammys. Sesame Street: Old School Volume 1 features three of the classic early Sesame Street albums: The Original Cast Record, Big Bird Sings, and Bert & Ernie Sing Along. All albums have been fully remastered, with original artwork. The Original Cast Album, originally released in 1970, peaked at #23 on Billboard's Top LP's chart in 1970, and was certified Gold by the RIAA. It also won a Grammy Award for Best Recording for Children. "Big Bird Sings" was originally released in 1974. "Bert & Ernie Sing Along" was released in 1975 and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Recording for Children. All titles have never before been available on CD. These CDs are sure to be a hit with parents, collectors, and even kids as the lessons taught then are just as appropriate and the music just as enjoyable.

I Believe: The Gospel Masters

This unique collection is a befitting tribute to Elvis Presley's 3 x Grammy Award-winning gospel and inspirational work. Discs 1 through 3 feature his entire non-secular studio masters in chronological order. Disc 4 covers the additional masters made for Elvis' movies, his comeback TV special in 1968, and recordings made live on stage. Disc 4 also includes two segments of Elvis singing religious songs in a more informal setting. The first segment includes Elvis with J.D. Sumner and The Stamps relaxing at the end of a long day at RCA's Hollywood studio on March 31, 1972. The final three recordings were done at his Los Angeles home in 1966, in preparation for the album HOW GREAT THOU ART. This four discs set is remastered from the original tapes using the latest DSD technology for optimum sound quality. As with his secular music, Elvis invented his own version of gospel, drawing from every element of his vast musical knowledge - without any musical prejudice or racial barriers. I BELIEVE - THE GOSPEL MASTERS offers the most comprehensive overview of Elvis' non-secular performances and provides testament to Elvis's musical excellence and his contribution to the popularization of religious music.
